Lonely

Sophie and I have been on our own for the past few days and feeling extremely lonely. Queenie and Lanie went out of town to visit a friend. I was looking forward to it at first and I thought Sophie would enjoy a break from Lanie, but just the opposite has occurred. I believe that Sophie really misses Queenie and I miss that canine dynamo named Lanie. The last few nights has put Sophie in an entirely foreign land of my apartment to sleep and spend most of her time. Today's weather didn't help. Stormy and rainy all day meant that we couldn't spend too much time outside. She keeps looking at me with her eyes imploring "what is going on?" This makes me feel the same emotion. Fortunately, they get back tomorrow.
To help Sophie feel as normal as possible I went to Feeder's to give her a bath. (something she really loves) She was long overdue for a bath. I take her to the vet tomorrow for her annual checkup and shots. I know I'm going to be told she needs to lose weight. Maybe she'll slip by.

Bye, Bye Birdie

It's official. Louisville Men's team lost today. The road to the final four is over for them. Looking at it from the Louisville side It sucked. They couldn't do anything right. I'd like to know what happened to the team that played Friday night. No fire, no drive, no one coming off the bench and giving them a "spark" to their play. I knew we were in trouble when T-Will wasn't having a good game.
Just hope the women's team, which is also in the elite eight doesn't play like their counterparts. I would love to see them get to the final four.

The Past

I guess by the time you reach the age of 55 you shouldn't be surprised that your past catches up to you. But I am surprised, floored would be a better word. I'm on Facebook mainly because of my high school alumni committee members. So far the only people that have asked me to be their friend have been former classmates...until today.
At first when I saw the name I was confused. I kept repeating the name asking myself "who in the hell is this". Then it hit me. OMG an ex girl friend from 25 years ago. A period in my life when I was young and stupid. Very stupid and quite frankly not all that young. I really should have been more secure and not so naive at the age of 30. Regardless, it was not a time in my life that I can look back on with fond memories.
I really should have ignored the request, but I didn't. I allowed the exchange to happen. She wants me to call sometime so we can catch up. ooooohhhhh boy. I'm going to regret this. Again.

Cards Win Big

Louisville Cardinals won impressively tonight in the first round of Regional Play. Beat Arizona 103 to 64. Sunday they play the winner of the Kansas/Michigan State game. Even though they won handedly in such a manner that some call a sleeper, I love when they win that way. No edge of your seat, you know they are going to win and you can mark your sheets early.
Queenie and I didn't go up on the hill to watch tonight's game, mainly because we wouldn't have been able to enjoy the game. Kids playing loudly would have been too much. Don't get me wrong, the kids should be able to play. My best friend in the world is raising a grandchild (2.5 years old) and the house can be caotic. I just wasn't in the mood to listen to it tonight.

Signs Of Spring

Spring means rebirth. Trees, shrubs, flowers and grass all coming back to life. Humans too are reborn. Spending time outside in the warmth of the sun after hybernating during the winter. This is my favorite time of the year. The promise of warmer weather. The promise of friends getting together and watching NCAA Tournament games, anxiously marking their brackets. The promise of green fairways, green greens, the posibility of actually making par, per chance a birdie!

I have wonderful neighbors who love to sit outside, watch the traffic, watch the dogs romp and play, and gossip about everyone we can think about.

Yes, spring is in the air and it can't get here soon enough. The warmth of the sun melting away that thick layer of winter gloom that always seems to settle on my body and psyche.

NCAA Tournament

As I've posted before I love this time of year because of the NCAA Tournament. Love watching the games. My team doesn't play until tomorrow night. My team is the University of Louisville. They play Morehead St, another Kentucky team. Can't wait to watch that. A few of my friends will throw parties just to watch the games.

I haven't felt well today, so it was nice to be able to lay back and watch the basketball action. Of course not feeling well meant that I didn't want to go outside very often and play with Lanie. Over all she and Sophie were pretty good in not bugging me to go out and when we did go out, were welling to come back in without a hassle.

GO CARDS!!!!

Brackets Are Out

Brackets came out this morning and I can't believe that UofL is the number one pick in the nation. Super. The play Friday in Dayton, Ohio against the winner of the Alabama St and Morehead St. I love to fill in the brackets for money. A guy at Queenie's work puts them on the computer and you can always go and check out how you are doing. Then it's time to sit back and watch the games and cheer teams on that you would normally never cheer for...lol. I love it!!!
