Just A Few of My Loved Ones

Lanie is really getting good at chasing down and catching a frisbee, even some of those that I don't throw well. I just love watching here. She loves her frisbee's and her balls and her babies (stuffed dog toys, especially the annoying ones that squeak). She definitely keeps me feeling young.

This picture was taken at her 1 year old birthday party in November. All her friends were there. All six of them. A good time was had by all, human and animal. They loved their birthday treat of Frosty Paws which is an ice cream for dogs. (disgusting really, but the dogs love it)
Spent part of today with my 89 year old mother while the primary care giver, my sister MJ got out of the house to do whatever she wanted. We call it Free Pass day for her. No agenda and no time table for when she needed to be back home. Mom is healthy and still able to move around a bit with a cane, but her mind is not sharp and she gets confused easily. Part of that is caused by hard of hearing. But her humor is always there and sharp as ever...lol. Her days consist of getting up, drinking her coffee, taking her morning pills, reading the paper, eventually eating breakfast (cereal) and then taking her shower. She will sit in her chair the rest of the time reading her books. As sad as it is to watch her grow old, the thought of her not being around forever terrifies me. My father passed away in 1996 from bone cancer, but I was never as close to her as I am my mother. Mom was always the strong one, the disciplinarian, the one you ran to. Never judgemental, but would always have an extremely wise way about her (not that I didn't always appreciate that trait). She is full of love and is always smiling.
